In the fiscal year 2018-19, vehicles had to wait for an average of 8 minutes at toll plazas. However, the average waiting time has significantly reduced to 47 seconds in 2020-21 and 2021-22 due to the implementation of FASTags. Despite the improvement in waiting times, there are still delays during peak hours at toll plazas in densely populated towns and near cities. The minister of road transport and highways highlighted the importance of reducing construction costs while maintaining high-quality standards.
