Health-tech platform CureBay appoints Vasant Nangia as President to bring affordable healthcare to rural India

Vasant Nangia has been named president of CureBay, an innovative health-tech platform that aims to provide high-quality and affordable healthcare to underserved patients in rural India. His appointment is effective as of 3 April.

In his new position, Nangia will be in charge of CureBay’s operations and lead the company’s initiatives to increase its influence and reach in the area.

With Vasant’s hiring, CureBay is now aiming to quickly scale up from its current 30 e-clinics and pharmacies to building a world-class health-tech enterprise, by utilising cutting-edge technology and quickly building seamless infrastructure across geographies.

Vasant Nangia, a graduate of IIM Calcutta, recently left his position as CEO of Chumbak Design, a home and lifestyle retailer that GOAT Brand Labs purchased earlier this year.

Having built an amazing team with domain experts in healthcare and technology, Priyadarshi, Founder & CEO of CureBay, shared his views on bringing in Vasant. He said “Vasant brings in years of experience not just in transformational leadership but also in executional excellence. His onboarding will help the entire leadership team at CureBay as we make strong strides towards redefining how affordable healthcare services will be made accessible to a billion people. I am eagerly looking forward to  growing CureBay by leaps and bounds as we start this new financial year together.”

Vasant Nangia, speaking on his appointment and collaborating with Priyadarshi for the third time, said, “I am delighted to collaborate once again with Priyadarshi and equally thrilled to be a part of CureBay. The platform’s outstanding work in connecting patients from underserved markets to reliable healthcare providers across the chain is truly commendable.”

“I am excited to join the stellar team at CureBay to take its operations to the next level and make a positive impact. It is an honour to be a part of an organization that is dedicated to improving healthcare access and outcomes for millions of individuals in rural India, and I am excited to contribute my expertise and experience towards this noble cause,” Nangia added.

Vasant, along with some colleagues, developed the Karatmeter which revolutionized the jewelry industry by providing a quick and non-destructive way to measure the purity of gold. This helped revive a struggling Tanishq and made it a successful revenue-generating brand for Titan. After leaving Tanishq, Vasant co-founded Oyzterbay.com with Priyadarshi to provide affordable jewelry to young Indians. The team was later acquired by Fossil Group, and Vasant played a critical role in establishing Fossil India as one of the group’s top global subsidiaries before relocating to Hong Kong as Senior Vice President. In 2022, Priyadarshi, Shobhan Mahapatra, and Sanjay Swain founded CureBay with the aim of revolutionizing healthcare delivery. They raised INR 50 crore in a Series A funding round led by Elevar Equity, setting the stage for growth and expansion.
