Shellios Technolabs, based in Delhi, has raised thousands of dollars from state agencies and is currently working on a new version of its 2019 motorbike helmet that lowers the impacts of air pollution on the rider. According to the company, it will be available in a few months.
Shellios’ helmet is now being promoted by the government. According to India’s science and technology ministry, the helmet is “a breath of new air for bicyclists.”
According to the company, an independent test in New Delhi confirmed that the helmet filters out 80% of pollutants in the air, while a Reuters test in 2019 revealed that the helmet reduces the prevalence of the harmful PM2.5 airborne particles from 43.1 micrograms per cubic metre outside to 8.1 micrograms for the wearer.

The helmets currently weigh 1.5 kilogrammes, making them heavier than conventional helmets, and cost Rs 4,500, which is four times the average price of a regular helmet. The new model will be made of thermoplastic rather than fibreglass, which is expected to reduce both weight and cost.
About Shellios Technolabs

While he declined to reveal current income figures, he stated that he believes there is a 30-million-helmet yearly demand, and that there is also interest in overseas countries such as Malaysia, Thailand, and Vietnam.
