Genefitletics Concludes Pre-Seed Round, Valued at Rs 7.5 Crore

Genefitletics, a direct-to-consumer microbiome company, has raised an undisclosed amount of funding from a group of Angels at a pre-money valuation of Rs 7.5 crore. The company is focused on utilizing microbial technologies to advance human health and is at the forefront of discoveries in microbial science. Its mission is to close the gap between scientific advancements and their practical application in improving human health.
With the newly raised funds, Genefitletics is set to expand its range of oral microbiome and human gene expression tests, as well as introduce a line of precision biotics under its own brand. Additionally, the company will continue its work on machine learning models for human biology, which will aid in deciphering the underlying causes of poor health.
According to Sushant Kumar, the Founder and CEO of Genefitletics, the current healthcare model incentivizes the management of chronic disease symptoms rather than prevention or cure. He notes that if someone develops an autoimmune condition at a young age, they become a lifelong customer of a pharmaceutical company. The healthcare system focuses on suppressing the immune system rather than addressing the root cause of the disease, leading to the development of more health issues, side effects, and increased medication usage. Kumar argues that this cycle started in the early 1800s with the introduction of germ theory.
Sushant Kumar, Founder and CEO of Genefitletics, believes that the introduction of germ theory in the early 1800s led to an unnecessary fear of bacteria, causing people to adopt an antimicrobial approach. Unfortunately, this approach has contributed to the current health epidemic.
