Garuda Aerospace Raises Additional $1M in Series B Round to Accelerate Drone Manufacturing and Global Expansion

Drone startup Garuda Aerospace, backed by cricket legend MS Dhoni, has raised an additional $1 million in its ongoing Series B round. The fresh capital comes from Narotam Sekhsaria Family Office, alongside existing investor We Founder Circle, further fueling the company’s aggressive scale-up plans.

This new infusion adds to the $12 million (Rs 100 crore) that the Chennai-based company secured earlier in the round, led by Venture Catalysts, and keeps the company’s valuation at $250 million. The funds are poised to significantly boost Garuda Aerospace’s manufacturing capacity, ramping up annual drone production from 8,000 units to 12,000–15,000 units, with an eye on hitting 50,000 units annually in the long term.

“This investment powers our next phase of growth, focused on innovation, national service, and global scale,” said Agnishwar Jayaprakash, Founder and CEO of Garuda Aerospace. The company aims to strengthen its R&D operations with a strong focus on indigenising airborne and ground defence drone systems over the next 3–5 years, aligning with India’s Atmanirbhar Bharat vision.

Founded in 2015, Garuda Aerospace has emerged as a key player in India’s rapidly expanding drone ecosystem. It caters to both commercial and government sectors, providing end-to-end drone manufacturing, drone-as-a-service (DaaS) offerings, and pilot training programs. The startup specializes in precision agritech, industrial inspections, infrastructure monitoring, and is now positioning itself as a strategic player in the defence segment.

Currently, the company operates a fleet of over 400 drones with 500 trained pilots across 84 Indian cities, manufacturing 30 types of drones and offering over 50 drone-related services. Garuda claims to have served more than 750 clients, spanning sectors such as agriculture, infrastructure, and defence.

Garuda Aerospace is also preparing for an IPO, as it eyes broader international opportunities. The startup aims to expand exports to 50 countries by 2025, with a growing focus on global drone deployment and partnerships. For the fiscal year ending March 2025, the company recorded Rs 123 crore in revenue, up from Rs 109 crore in FY24, according to its founder.

To date, Garuda Aerospace has raised a total of $51.9 million, according to Tracxn data, reinforcing its position as one of India’s most capitalized and ambitious drone-tech startups.
