Funstop Games Secures $1.5 Million Investment to Expand Game Portfolio

Funstop Games, a Gurugram-based casual gaming studio, has secured $1.5 million in funding from InfoEdge Ventures. The company has ambitious plans for this funding, intending to expand its game development efforts and invest in building ad tech capabilities to bolster its game portfolio. Funstop Games has already tasted success with two of its games, “Airport Rush 3D” and “Perfect Time,” and now, they aim to build on the insights gained from these triumphs.

Prashanth Vijay and Tamesh Sharma, the co-founders of Funstop Games, proudly reveal that their games have garnered over 50 million downloads and generated more than $4 million in revenues. Prashanth, the co-founder, emphasized, “The evolving gaming landscape demands high-quality games with engaging gameplay and design. InfoEdge Ventures’ investment provides the capital to develop IPs with longer revenue streams, validating our belief in the combination of data and design.”

Chinmaya Sharma, a partner at InfoEdge Ventures, expressed their conviction in the formula of “design + data = good games,” highlighting the key roles played by Tamesh’s design expertise and Prashanth’s data understanding in Funstop’s success. This investment comes at a time when the gaming industry is witnessing substantial growth, with various companies securing funding to expand their presence and offerings.

In a related development, Nazara Tech, an online gaming and esports company, recently raised Rs 410 crore from SBI Mutual Funds. This move followed the company’s board approving the issuance of 5.7 million equity shares at Rs 714 per share to the fund. This significant funding injection followed an earlier investment of Rs 100 crore from Zerodha co-founder Nikhil Kamath, as Nazara Tech seeks to make a substantial foray into the game publishing space. The gaming industry continues to be a hotbed of activity, as investors recognize the immense potential in this thriving sector.
