FreshBus, an electric bus start-up based in Bengaluru, announced on February 16 that it has secured Rs 26 crore in a seed funding round from travel tech platform ixigo. The funding will aid the launch of the company’s upscale inter-city electric bus services throughout India, according to a statement by FreshBus.
FreshBus Founder and CEO Sudhakar Reddy Chirra stated that the company will begin its premium inter-city electric bus services simultaneously from Hyderabad and Bengaluru, with the introduction of 24 electric buses.
The start-up intends to increase its operations to more than 1,000 buses across India within the next two to three years. According to Chirra, FreshBus aims to provide a more affordable and environmentally friendly alternative to current fossil-fuel bus-dominated inter-city public transport.

Aloke Bajpai, the Co-Founder & Group CEO, and Rajnish Kumar, the Co-Founder & Group CPTO of ixigo, announced that the company has invested in FreshBus with the shared goal of achieving a future where all inter-city buses in India operate on clean fuel.
They highlighted that current diesel-based buses are a major cause of urban air pollution, and therefore, they plan to support FreshBus in providing an eco-friendly mode of transport.
