Former HCLTech executive Sukamal Banerjee named Xoriant CEO

After serving as the head of Engineering and R&D Services at HCLTech for 27 years, Sukamal Banerjee has been selected to lead Xoriant as its CEO.
In January, private equity firm ChrysCapital acquired Xoriant with the leadership of IT expert Sanjay Jalona. This acquisition marked the second purchase from ChrysCapital’s ninth fund and the first one in the IT sector since Jalona joined the firm.
According to Xoriant’s board chairman, Sanjay Jalona, “Sukamal Banerjee possesses a well-established background in promoting expansion, possessing extensive strategic thinking abilities, outstanding leadership skills, and a strong understanding of operations, and will steer Xoriant in its next growth phase’.
Following his departure as CEO of LTI, Sanjay Jalona now works as the operating partner overseeing business services sector investments for the private equity firm.
Girish Gaitonde, who currently serves as CEO and founder of Xoriant, will transition to a board member role.

Until February, Sukamal Banerjee served as the Corporate Vice President at HCLTech. Throughout his 27-year tenure at HCLTech, Banerjee held various leadership positions. As head of digital and engineering services, he managed a P&L exceeding $1.5 billion, supervised worldwide operations, and led a team of more than 20,000 engineers in 30 countries.
Sukamal Banerjee held the position of Corporate Vice President at HCLTech until February of this year, having worked there for 27 years and served in several leadership roles. As the head of digital and engineering services, he oversaw a profit and loss (P&L) of more than $1.5 billion, managed global operations, and led a team of over 20,000 engineers across 30 countries.
Banerjee has obtained a Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering as well as an MBA specialising in Finance and Strategy.
The tech industry has seen several high-level changes recently, including the appointment of Banerjee as Xoriant CEO. Other notable moves include former Infosys executive Ravi Kumar S being named Global CEO of Cognizant, the reported resignation of Wipro’s Rajan Kohli, and the announcement of Mohit Joshi as CEO designate for Tech Mahindra.
