Flipkart, the e-commerce giant, is gearing up for The Big Billion Days (TBBD) sale event from September 23-30, 2023, and plans to generate more than 100,000 new job opportunities across its pan-India supply chain. These jobs will be available at various locations such as fulfilment centres, sortation centres, and delivery hubs. Flipkart aims to employ a diverse workforce, including local kirana delivery partners, women, persons with disabilities (PWDs), and others.
Hemant Badri, Senior Vice President and Head of Supply Chain, Customer Experience, and ReCommerce at Flipkart Group, emphasized the need to scale up various aspects of the supply chain, including capacity, storage, sorting, packaging, and human resources, to meet the complexity and scale of TBBD. “This year, we plan to deliver more than 40% of shipments through our kirana delivery programme. We aim to not only enhance the prosperity of our partners but also to amplify their contributions in expanding our delivery spectrum of diverse products across remote corners of India,” he added.
Flipkart has been expanding its supply chain infrastructure with last-mile distribution hubs and fulfillment centers, particularly in Tier III cities and beyond, spanning regions such as Uttar Pradesh, Gujarat, Bihar, Punjab, Rajasthan, and Telangana. To equip its workforce with the necessary skills, Flipkart offers tailored skilling initiatives, covering supply chain processes, technology tools, and mobile applications relevant to technology-driven supply chains.
Founded in 2007, Flipkart boasts a customer base exceeding 450 million and collaborates with 1.1 million sellers, offering a diverse range of over 150 million products across 80+ categories. The upcoming TBBD event marks the tenth edition since its inception in 2014.
