Flipkart Plans Same-Day E-commerce Delivery Rollout Scheduled for February

Flipkart, the e-commerce giant, has introduced a same-day delivery option across 20 cities, including Ahmedabad, Bengaluru, Mumbai, Patna, and Vijayawada, among others, for various product categories. Commencing in February, customers can receive their orders before midnight by placing orders before 1 pm, expanding to more cities in the coming months.

In direct competition with Amazon’s same-day delivery feature for Prime customers, Flipkart’s move aims to enhance customer satisfaction. Abhinav Singh, Vice President of Customer Fulfilment, Supply Chain, and Amazon Transportation Services at Amazon India, highlighted their focus on same-day delivery, stating, “From Prime Day 2022 to now, we have continued to focus on our same-day delivery programme and expanded our coverage to 21 more cities versus 2022.”

To facilitate same-day delivery, Flipkart has invested in multiple fulfilment centres, expanded technology capabilities, and utilized machine learning models for efficient route planning and product sortation. Hemant Badri, Senior Vice President and Head of Supply Chain, Customer Experience, and ReCommerce Business at Flipkart Group, emphasized their commitment, stating, “Considering that customers not just from metro cities but non-metros cities love to shop on Flipkart, we are working to provide same-day delivery to 20 cities.”

Badri added, “We will further scale it in the months to come, to include more cities and more categories including large appliances, to delight the customers.” The Walmart-owned company aims to optimize its supply chain network for efficient order processing and delivery across both metro and non-metro cities.
