Flipkart Delivery Agent Murdered in Lucknow Over Rs 1.5 Lakh iPhone COD Order

A tragic incident unfolded in Lucknow last Monday when a 30-year-old Flipkart delivery agent was allegedly murdered while delivering an iPhone ordered via cash on delivery (COD). The accused, identified as Gajanan, had placed an order for an iPhone worth Rs 1.5 lakh, but instead of paying for the product, he, along with an accomplice, killed the delivery agent, Bharat Sahu, and disposed of his body, according to police reports.

Deputy commissioner of police (DCP) Shashank Singh provided details of the crime: “On September 23, delivery agent Bharat Sahu of Nishatganj went to deliver the phone at Gajanan’s place where he was killed by Gajanan and his accomplice. After strangulating Sahu, they put his body in a sack and disposed of it in the Indira Canal.”

The crime only came to light when Sahu’s family filed a missing persons report on September 25 at Chinhat police station after he failed to return home for two days. Prem Kumar, the deceased’s brother, expressed his grief and demand for justice. “My brother had gone for delivery of a product. When he demanded the price of the delivered product, the customer killed my brother. My brother should get justice. He was married,” Prem Kumar told ANI.

Police investigators traced Sahu’s last known location and call records, which led them to Gajanan and his friend Akash. “During interrogation, Akash confessed to the crime,” DCP Singh added.

Efforts to recover the victim’s body are ongoing, with the State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) called in to locate the body in the Indira Canal.

In response to the incident, Flipkart issued a statement expressing their condolences and commitment to supporting the victim’s family. “We are deeply saddened by this unfortunate incident with our delivery agent, and our thoughts are with his family at this difficult time. We are in touch with the delivery agent’s family and our utmost priority is to ensure that we can provide them all possible support. In addition, we are working with the law enforcement authorities as they conduct their investigation and will continue to seek updates on the matter,” a Flipkart spokesperson said in response to Moneycontrol’s query.
