Fantail Raises ₹13.75 Cr in Seed Round to Build India’s Leading MMF Brand from Surat

Fantail, a B2B textile startup specializing in man-made fibers (MMF), has raised ₹13.75 crore (approximately $1.6 million) in a seed funding round led by Riverwalk Holdings, Incubate Fund Asia, and All In Capital. The company, founded in 2023 by textile industry veteran Ramya Iyer, is positioning itself as the first MMF brand to emerge from Surat—the world’s second-largest hub for synthetic textiles.
The fresh capital will be deployed to build strong operational capabilities, enhance backend technologies, invest in partner manufacturing units, and bring in talent across design, quality, and technical roles. Fantail aims to modernize the highly fragmented Surat MMF supply chain by partnering with weavers, mills, and processors to improve quality, scale, and capital efficiency.
“In B2B, timing is of great significance,” said Ramya Iyer, Founder of Fantail. “Having worked closely with the Surat ecosystem for over a decade, I believe the next few years will define Manufacturing 2.0 in India. With the right team and a laser focus on solving operational hurdles, we’re confident about building a valuable and scalable MMF brand out of Surat.”
The startup plans to streamline the MMF design and manufacturing processes, building proprietary product lines tailored for enterprise fashion retailers. Fantail’s backend tech stack is also in focus, aimed at improving traceability, inventory planning, and design collaboration with enterprise buyers.
Jai Sumer Singh, Founder and Managing Partner at Riverwalk Holdings, said, “Despite the massive scale of the MMF market in Surat, there hasn’t been a single brand associated with quality, trust, and design innovation. Fantail is set to change that by standardizing a deeply fragmented supply chain and introducing a brand-first approach in a traditionally commoditized sector.”
With the seed round, Fantail seeks to become a next-generation leader in India’s man-made fiber ecosystem, setting new benchmarks in quality, design, and supply chain transparency.
