Eximius Ventures Launches $30M Fund II to Invest in Early-Stage Startups
- ByStartupStory | January 24, 2025
Eximius Ventures, a prominent venture capital firm focusing on pre-seed investments, has officially launched its second fund (Fund II), with a target corpus of $30 million. The fund is set to invest in 25-30 early-stage companies, primarily within the fintech, artificial intelligence (AI)/software-as-a-service (SaaS), frontier tech, and consumer tech sectors. Eximius Ventures has earmarked an initial cheque size of $500,000 per company, with half of the total fund reserved for follow-on investments to support high-potential portfolio companies.
Eximius Ventures has already deployed capital into four companies across the consumer tech and AI/SaaS sectors, with the firm either leading or co-leading these investments alongside institutional investors. The firm is known for its focused pre-seed investment strategy, which contrasts with cohort-driven or spray-and-pray approaches that are more common in the venture capital space.
“At a time when funding is becoming increasingly selective, Eximius is doubling down on pre-seed startups, with an aim to drive momentum in India’s innovation ecosystem,” said Pearl Agarwal, Founder and Managing Partner at Eximius Ventures. “Our goal is to bridge the gap for founders seeking their first institutional capital while enabling them to thrive in a competitive global market,” Agarwal added.
Eximius Ventures’ inaugural $10 million Fund I, launched in 2021, has already made significant strides, investing in 23 companies. Notably, around 60% of the firms have secured multiple up-rounds from global investors. Building on the success of Fund I, Fund II will follow a similar strategy, drawing capital from a diverse set of limited partners, including high-net-worth individuals, founder-investors, family offices, and global Japanese corporate venture firms.
Eximius Ventures has made notable investments in companies like Jar, a micro-savings app; Finarkein, a data analytics platform; Vegapay, a platform enabling financial institutions and fintechs; and Stan, a gamified platform for gamers, creators, and fans.
“Eximius will look at companies led by seasoned operators and entrepreneurs, solving with a first principle mindset and exceptional execution capacity in a large market,” Agarwal explained.
Eximius Ventures is led by Pearl Agarwal and Preeti Sampat, who bring over 25 years of combined global investment experience to the firm. With the launch of Fund II, Eximius is poised to continue its impact in India’s growing startup ecosystem, providing crucial early-stage funding to innovative companies on the rise.
