Emami Acquires 30% stake in pet care startup Cannis Lupus

Emami, a leading FMCG firm, said on Thursday that it will buy a 30% investment in pet-care venture Cannis Lupus Services India for an unknown sum. Under the trademark “Fur Ball Story,” Cannis Lupus Services India provides Ayurvedic medicines for dogs. According to a joint statement, it formulates its medications using a diverse spectrum of plants and herbs.

“Cannis Lupus’ significant expertise and experience in pet care & pet training gained over the years will be useful in establishing and scaling up the firm shortly.” Cannis Lupus will focus on the fast-growing pet care area with its Ayurvedic range under the brand ‘Fur Ball Story,’ according to the announcement. According to Emami Vice Chairman & Managing Director Harsha V Agarwal, the pet care industry in India is rapidly growing. With increasing disposable wealth, more individuals are buying house pets, particularly dogs.

“Furthermore, as individuals become more aware of the psychological and physical benefits of keeping a pet at home, they have begun to identify as ‘pet parents’ rather than ‘pet owners.’ They are also seeking the finest therapies for common problems that their pet children suffer, particularly Ayurveda and herbal cures,” he added.
