Dunzo Joins ONDC as a Seller App, Aims to Empower Local Merchants and Boost E-commerce Landscape

Reliance Retail-backed e-commerce firm Dunzo has recently become a seller app for the Open Network For Digital Commerce (ONDC), facilitating access for small and medium-sized merchants to ONDC’s extensive buyer network. Within just two weeks of going live on ONDC, Dunzo’s seller app has already recorded over 3,000 daily grocery orders. The startup plans to onboard more than 1,500 local merchants in the first week, and an impressive total of 20,000 merchants across various essential categories within the next 45 days.

Dalvir Suri, Co-founder and Head of Dunzo Merchant Services expressed excitement over the success of their merchant partners, witnessing a 3X increase in daily orders. By joining ONDC, Dunzo aims to drive a transformative change in India’s e-commerce landscape, aspiring to be one of the first platforms empowering local commerce through this network.

“We have merchant partners who’ve also seen a 3X increase in their daily orders. Very soon, India’s e-commerce landscape will be marked by pre-ONDC and post-ONDC days, and we are happy to be one of the first to participate in this network and drive this change,” Suri said. Dunzo aims to onboard the largest number of local merchants on ONDC to further empower local commerce. Going forward, local merchants who join Dunzo’s logistics platform Dunzo4Business (D4B) will have automatic access to join ONDC. Dunzo will also provide technology and customer support, along with last-mile logistics delivery support for merchants, the company said.

By making it a simple plug-and-play process for its merchants, Dunzo will accelerate ‘go to market’, helping them reap the benefits of accessing thousands of new customers online quickly and seamlessly, it noted. “In a country like ours, where small and medium businesses keep the heart of commerce beating, any real progress must include them—that’s the core mission of ONDC Protocol. With Dunzo’s integration as a seller app, we will see thousands of new local merchants come online and grow their business while giving customers more choice and convenience,” T Koshy, MD and CEO of ONDC, said.

Dunzo plans to make the onboarding process for its merchants seamless and efficient, accelerating their ‘go to market’ journey, and enabling them to access thousands of new customers online quickly. With the integration of Dunzo as a seller app, ONDC Protocol will fulfill its core mission of bringing thousands of new local merchants online, granting customers more choices and convenience.

As part of this collaboration, local merchants who join Dunzo’s logistics platform, Dunzo4Business (D4B), will automatically gain access to join ONDC. Dunzo will provide technology, customer support, and last-mile logistics delivery support to these merchants.

This move marks a significant milestone for Dunzo’s B2B arm, Dunzo4Business, which has become a primary focus for the company, backed by Reliance Retail and Google. Dunzo aims to expand D4B to the top 20 cities this year and incorporate mid-mile capabilities using various delivery modes.
