Dubai Chambers has organized an event to discuss how the private sector may participate in and profit from the COP28 UAE Presidency and Dubai’s business community.
Businesses of all sizes and sectors must reconsider and reorganize their business models to support sustainable growth. The UAE understands climate action’s enormous potential for driving socio-economic growth, creating jobs, empowering women and youth, and enhancing the entire economy in a sustainable way for the future. Chambers added, “As host of COP28, the UAE has an opportunity to strengthen its position and reputation as a leader in climate action, where the environment takes center stage in the country’s ambitious economic development agenda in the years to come. To that end, the government and private sector need to work in lockstep, and partnerships between the two become more important than ever.”
Sabrin Rahma, Director of Domestic Engagements, COP28 UAE; Yasmine Berbir, Head of Sustainability, Nestlé Middle East FZE; Florence Bulte, Chief Sustainability Officer, Chalhoub Group; and Raji Hattar, Chief Sustainability Officer, Aramex, spoke in the panel discussion. Dr. Kamel Mellahi, Senior Manager, Dubai Chamber of Commerce Center for Responsible Business, moderated the discussion.
With a succession of ambitious initiatives and projects aimed at shaping an economy based on renewable and clean energy, modern technologies, and eco-friendly commerce, the UAE has made enormous gains in sustainability, carbon neutrality, and environmental preservation.
