Deep Tech Construction Startup Tvasta Launches Kerala’s First Concrete 3D Printer Lab

Tvasta Manufacturing Solutions, a pioneering deep-tech startup specializing in Construction 3D Printing, has launched Kerala’s first Concrete 3D Printer Lab in collaboration with Saintgits College of Engineering, Kottayam. The new facility, inaugurated on June 25, 2024, aims to boost research and innovation in the construction industry through advanced 3D printing techniques.
The inauguration event was attended by representatives from Tvasta, faculty, staff, and students of Saintgits College of Engineering. This state-of-the-art lab is set to become a research and development hub, focusing on innovative concrete 3D printing methodologies. Tvasta, founded in 2016 by IIT Madras alumni, has been at the forefront of leveraging automation and robotics to revolutionize construction with faster, economical, and sustainable methods.
Addressing the audience at the inauguration, Mr. Adithya VS, Chief Executive Officer of Tvasta Manufacturing Solutions, expressed his enthusiasm for the collaboration: “We are thrilled to partner with Saintgits College of Engineering to launch Kerala’s first Concrete 3D Printer Lab dedicated to research and development. This lab will be instrumental in pushing the boundaries of construction technology and promoting sustainable and rapid construction practices in India.”
The lab will utilize Tvasta’s indigenously developed ‘NIRMAAN RD11’ 3D Printer, capable of printing up to one cubic meter volume. This advanced equipment will allow students, researchers, and industry professionals to explore new methodologies in 3D printed construction and carry out material research.
Shri. Thomas T. John, Director of Saintgits Group of Institutions, highlighted the significance of the new facility: “We are immensely proud to inaugurate this advanced lab, which aligns perfectly with our vision of fostering innovation and providing our students with the latest technological tools to excel in the field of engineering. This collaboration with Tvasta is a significant milestone for us.”
The event was graced by several dignitaries and stakeholders from Saintgits College of Engineering, including Dr. Sudha T, Principal; Dr. M D Mathew, Dean of Research; Dr. Nivin Philip, Professor and Research Centre in charge; Dr. Reebu Zachariah Koshy, Associate Director; Dr. Naveen Punnoose, Chief Digital Officer; Dr. Soosan George T, Dean of Academics; and Dr. Susan Rose, Head of the Department of Civil Engineering. Mr. Sanu Xavier, CTO of MG University Innovation Foundation, MGU, Kottayam, was also in attendance.
Tvasta’s ‘Made in India’ technology has already seen significant success, with over 5,000 square feet of 3D printed construction completed across India. The company continues to drive innovation in the sector, promoting sustainable construction practices through its cutting-edge technology.
The new Concrete 3D Printer Lab at Saintgits College of Engineering is set to become a center of excellence, fostering research and development in construction technology and contributing to the advancement of the construction industry in India.
