HDFC Life has made an undisclosed investment in the venture capital firm Z3Partners Rs 500 crore Z3Partners Tech Fund.
The venture capital fund with a focus on technology will invest between 35 and 80 billion rupees in Indian startups that use technology. It completed its second closure, worth Rs 250 crore, last year, and will probably complete the process this year.
The managing partner of Z3Partners, Gautam Patel stated, “HDFC Life is among the most reputable and admired financial institutions in India. We are thrilled to have HDFC Life join us on this venture to invest in the best tech and digital businesses that are supported by renowned businesspeople. We think that this effort will result in supporting and leading the Indian startup ecosystem.”
BigBasket, MedGenome, OFBusiness, Pepperfry, Cyfirma, DealShare, Gramophone, Shipsy, and True-Fan are a few of the previous investments made by Z3Partners. Dealshare, the social ecommerce unicorn, is also part of its portfolio. The most recent investment comes at a time when funding has decreased across all sectors and the Indian startup ecosystem has turned bearish.
