Shikhar Dhawan, a cricket player, has announced his collaboration with Web3 companies Bliv.Club, a finance company, and WIOM, a Web3 Metaverse company, to introduce the first sports city in the Metaverse. Serial businessmen Vikas Singh, Abhishek Kumar Gupta, and Mohammed Sirajuddin established Bliv.Club in 2021. World in One Metaverse (WIOM), a Web3 Metaverse firm, was founded by award-winning digital entrepreneur and IIT Delhi graduate Abhinav Tandon.
The global sports market is expected to expand at a compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of 41.3 per cent, from $354.96 billion in 2021 to $501.43 billion in 2022. At a CAGR of 9%, the sports market is anticipated to reach $707.84 billion in 2026. The global metaverse market is projected to develop at a compound annual growth rate of more than 45.8 per cent from 2022 to 2030, reaching a market value of over $1,803 billion. Shikhar Dhawan was inspired by this to establish a sports metropolis in the Metaverse. The Da-One group of businesses, which focuses on sports, technology, startup ecosystems, and entertainment, was recently launched by him.
Dhawan stated in a statement, “I’ve always made an effort to stay current with technology. How sports can integrate with the newest web3 advancements greatly interests me. Our team is pushing the limits of virtual reality to make it truly democratic and accessible for everyone in light of the changing internet consumption habits of millennials and Gen Z. To bridge the gap between the currently available offline sports/fitness avenues and metaverses, we are developing a fully functional and sustainable multiverse economy. To create something like this and have an innovative impact, you kind of have to be crazy.”

In the soon-to-be-opened sports city, there will be cricket stadiums, a sportsplex where spectators can enjoy watching sports, a sports cafe, a gym, an e-sports area, cottages, running tracks, a 3D immersive sports museum, a sports library, a venue for other sports, and more. In addition to the aforementioned, fascinating partnerships with additional well-known sports figures and sports communities are upcoming.
“The idea aspires to create an enthusiast-friendly sports universe. Essentially, this will be a sports city constructed using the most recent blockchain-based technology, with the intention of developing into a community-owned and decentralised platform that supports utility tokens, dApps, and an ecosystem for XR-based education. The initiative’s main goal,” according to WIOM’s founder Abhinav Tandon, will be to offer best-of-breed, market-leading Metaverse technologies.
The residents and users of this virtual city will have a unique place given the importance of the community-owned platform in web3. As a Web3 Fintech business, our objective will always be to make cutting-edge solutions available to the general public,” according to a statement from Vikas Singh, co-founder of Bliv.Club.
