Merger and Acquisition

Cognizant’s Acquisition of Thirdera

Cognizant, the prominent US-based IT company, is set to acquire Thirdera, a move aimed at bolstering its ServiceNow business. The acquisition focuses on enhancing digital workflows for enterprise operations through the cloud computing platform developed by ServiceNow.

Expected to conclude in January 2024, the acquisition details remain undisclosed. Upon completion, over 940 employees will join Cognizant’s ServiceNow Business Group, creating one of the largest aggregations of ServiceNow professional certifications globally.

Cognizant’s strategic partnership with ServiceNow has evolved since the acquisition of ServiceNow consultancy Linium in 2021. This partnership includes initiatives such as AI-driven automation and the joint pursuit of a $1 billion combined business.

Thirdera, an Elite ServiceNow Partner, specializes in advisory, implementation, and optimization solutions related to the ServiceNow platform. The acquisition will incorporate Thirdera’s ServiceNow training platform, Thirdera University, into Cognizant’s offerings.

Cognizant’s CEO S Ravi Kumar highlights that ServiceNow is leading a market shift toward customer, employee, and creator products. The addition of Thirdera’s consultants and their leading position in ServiceNow training will establish Cognizant as a thought leader and innovator in the ServiceNow ecosystem.

Thirdera’s consultants across multiple locations and their expertise in training and certifications will contribute to the creation of a robust Cognizant ServiceNow Business Group with over 2,400 specialists and 14,000 certifications.

Bill McDermott, chairman and CEO of ServiceNow, states that Cognizant’s plan to acquire Thirdera will significantly enhance their ability to build industry-leading solutions on the ServiceNow platform, accelerating value for customers and propelling the joint business towards the $1 billion milestone.
