Chennai startups raises $ 1 Bn for the first time in 2022

According to data from Tracxn, a platform that provides curated profiles of over 1,00,000 startups, Chennai startups braved the funding winter to cross the USD 1-billion funding mark for the first time in a year in 2022.

The city’s startups raised USD 1.5 billion this year, a 71 percent increase from USD 876 million in 2021, despite the fact that young companies in other major Indian cities struggled to attract investors during a so-called funding winter.

Meanwhile, startups in Delhi-NCR raised $5 billion in 2022, witnessing a 52% funding drop. Startups in Mumbai and Bengaluru saw a 26% and 46% dip in funding, respectively.
