Burger Bae’s Bold Pitch on Shark Tank India Leaves Sharks Hungry for More
- ByStartupStory | February 9, 2025

Some startup pitches are all business, while others serve up a side of drama. Burger Bae did both when it strutted onto the stage of Shark Tank India: Season 4. Founders Rohan Kashyap, Janvi Sikaria, and Ojasvee Kashyap weren’t just selling clothes but an attitude. Described as the “toxic college girl you can’t resist,” the brand’s quirky identity had the investors intrigued and amused in equal measure.
For a startup that sounds like a fast-food chain but sells fashion, Burger Bae means serious business. The founders sought ₹ one crore for a 2.5% stake, valuing their company at a cool ₹20 crore. Their revenue goals were just as ambitious, with plans to hit ₹15 crore annually. But the ride wasn’t all smooth- Rohan revealed that an early investor deal went sideways, leaving him scrambling to buy back 33% of the company using a family loan. Through all the chaos, one rule remained sacred: the customer always comes first.
Adding a twist straight out of a rom-com, Janvi first encountered Burger Bae as an irate customer. After a delayed order, she vented her frustration online. Instead of the usual apology email, Rohan personally reached out and offered her lifetime free merchandise as a peace offering. That olive branch turned into a business partnership- and eventually, a romantic one.
The Sharks had mixed reactions. Namita Thapar stepped away, wary of the brand’s financial stability. Viraj Bahl wasn’t convinced either, feeling it was too early to jump in. But Aman Gupta, Anupam Mittal, and Kunal Bahl saw the potential. They initially countered with ₹ 1 crore for 10% equity before tweaking their offer to ₹2 crore for 20%. While Janvi was immediately sold, Rohan needed a moment to process. After some back and forth, they shook hands on the deal.
Founded in 2019, Burger Bae thrives on viral fashion and community-driven design. With 269,000 Instagram followers, it has built a loyal base of trend-savvy shoppers. What started as a social media agency took a turn when customers clamoured for the clothing featured in its posts. Today, it keeps up with fashion’s fast-paced world by delivering styles customers request.
Going head-to-head with brands like The Souled Store and Urban Monkey, Burger Bae has found its lane in India’s booming ₹637 billion streetwear industry. With fresh funding, the brand is ready to take its audacious identity to the next level.
