Blinkit Expands Services to Jammu, Strengthens Quick Commerce Presence

In a significant move to expand its quick commerce operations, Blinkit has launched services in parts of Jammu, marking another milestone in its journey to reach Tier II cities across India.

The company’s cofounder and CEO, Albinder Dhindsa, took to LinkedIn to announce the development, stating, “Three of our stores are already operational in Jammu and have started delivering to nearby areas.”

The newly launched Blinkit stores in Jammu are strategically located in Trikuta Nagar, Roop Nagar, and Akhnoor Road, catering to over 10 nearby localities.

Widening Reach Across India

Blinkit’s Jammu launch follows its recent expansion into Kochi, just ahead of Onam, and subsequent service rollouts in Bathinda, Haridwar, and Vijayawada. The platform’s aggressive growth strategy underlines its commitment to bringing quick commerce to underserved areas and staying ahead in the competitive market.

Adding to its momentum, the Zomato-owned company recently appointed Vipin Kapooria, Flipkart’s former vice president for business finance, as its new Chief Financial Officer (CFO).

New Features to Bolster Growth

In addition to geographic expansion, Blinkit has been rolling out new features to solidify its position in the quick commerce market. Earlier this month, the platform launched “Bistro,” a quick food delivery app currently piloted in parts of Gurugram. Bistro promises to deliver meals, snacks, and beverages like tea and coffee within 15 minutes.

Furthermore, Blinkit is exploring innovations such as a large-order fleet in the Delhi NCR region. As reported exclusively by Inc42, the fleet could enable customers to order larger products such as geysers, air purifiers, and gaming consoles like the Playstation 5.

The platform also introduced the “Blinkit Seller Hub” in October, allowing brands to list products and sell directly on the platform without intermediaries.

Financial Performance and Future Plans

On the financial front, Blinkit’s revenue more than doubled in the second quarter of FY25, reaching ₹1,156 crore, compared to ₹505 crore in the same quarter last year. Additionally, the company significantly reduced its adjusted EBITDA loss to ₹8 crore, a notable improvement from the ₹125 crore loss in Q2 FY24.

Looking ahead, Blinkit has ambitious plans to operate 2,000 dark stores by the end of FY26. As of Q2 FY25, it already runs 791 dark stores nationwide, underscoring its rapid expansion strategy in the quick commerce space.
