Bharat Krushi Seva, an agritech startup raises seed funding from Marquee investors of about INR 43 million


Bharat Krushi Seva(BKS) started in july 2021 is an agritech working in the field of adoption of digital agriculture across India has recently raised INR 43 million in its first round of seed funding from marquee investors, namely S. Amit Group, Upaya Social Ventures, Villgro, Criyagen Agri and Biotech, Mintosh Advisory & SiriusOne Capital.

These funds would be utilized for enhancing the existing technologies and upgrade the required machinery for greater productivity. BKS has so far catered to more than 2 lakhs farmers of Maharashtra &  is now set to reach out to another 2 lakhs farmers leaving a positive impact in their lives.

“We have delivered more than 5,000 products till date to the doorsteps of farmers. Our local-level supply chain network of retailers and dealers helps farmers get just-in-time doorstep delivery, ensuring quality brands and reduction in damage of stocks,” said Hemant Dhole Patil, Founder and COO, Bharat Krushi Seva.

Mohammad Azhar, Lead Government & Public Sector Initiatives at Villgro, said BKS is bringing substantial value-add to smallholder farmers in Maharashtra through their technology based Business-to-Farmer (B2F) platform. “The uniqueness combined with trust and affordability further reaffirmed our view that the company is on the right track and creating financial impact in the life of the smallholder farmer,” he said.

Shailendra Mruthyunjayappa, Lead Investor, Mintosh Advisory and SiriusOne Capital, said agritech has the potential to solve some of the biggest challenges that the agriculture industry is facing today. “We are excited to invest in this highly promising startup.”

Pune based BKS claims that their solutions will help farmers to yield a higher productivity, extended shelf life and moreover get a better price via institutional buyers directly. This will ultimately help in the reduction of wastage. BKS has made farming more profitable and by making less use of chemical fertilizers and pesticides. The company has received an Indian Achievers Award for “Promising Start-Up in Agritech Space” and has been incubated and received a Grant by Pusa Krishi ICAR-IARI, Under UPJA 2022.
