Beyond Border: Seamless U.S. Immigration Experience for Tech Founders and Professionals

Founded by former VC Frederick Ng and his college flatmate Arnold Ip, Beyond Border was born from a simple observation: too many venture-backed founders and technology executives were struggling with their U.S. immigration processes while expanding there.

The U.S. remains the top destination for business expansion, fundraising, and career growth in the technology sector. Traditional visa routes like the H-1B are often bottlenecked by lottery systems and quotas. The H-1B route remains highly competitive, with 340,000 registrations for only 85,000 visas in fiscal year 2026—underscoring the sharp supply constraints of the traditional route (The Times of India). Policy shifts and uncertainty during the Trump administration further highlighted the instability of this pathway for U.S. work immigration.

In a game-changing move, USCIS formally confirmed in January 2025 that a separate U.S. legal entity owned by the beneficiary, such as an LLC or C-Corp, can now file the O-1 petition on the founder’s behalf and comes with unlimited extensions.

Ng and Ip saw an opportunity to create a tech-enabled process to help Indian tech professionals who suffer from H1-B backlogs to leverage this lesser-known O-1 visa, also known as the Einstein visa, to achieve their U.S. immigration goals. With approval rates above 90 percent and unlimited extensions, the O-1 is a much better U.S. mobility solution to qualified applicants.

From VC Insight to Immigration Innovation

Before starting Beyond Border, Ng was a venture investor at Square Peg, a technology-focused VC fund known for early investments in companies like Canva. In his role, he frequently comes across founders whose U.S. expansion plans stalled due to visa issues.

Ip, with a background in building technology-enabled processes for traditional services, shared similar observations: the immigration process was often opaque, slow, and complicated by lawyer selection headaches. The two decided to change that by launching Beyond Border.

Beyond Border works closely with clients to evaluate eligibility across multiple visa pathways and then develops tailored application strategies. Their technology-enabled process then allows them to complete complex petition drafts within a month.

The company eliminates the long search for qualified attorneys by offering a pre-vetted network of U.S.-based lawyers experienced in working with executives, founders, and highly skilled professionals in technology sectors.

Long-Term U.S. Work Visa Approved in 8 Days

Backed by venture investors and founders who ‘resonate with the immigration pain’, Beyond Border has already worked with executives from Microsoft, Google, Klarna, JD.com, Tata Consultancy Services, and numerous venture-backed founders to secure U.S. work visas and green cards.

Ip noted that with their proprietary process, clients have obtained the documentation-heavy O-1 visa in as quickly as eight days, making Beyond Border one of the fastest providers of immigration services in the industry.

The company works with a large number of technologists and founders from India, reflecting the strong demand among skilled professionals seeking U.S. opportunities. Beyond Border also partners with founders from major accelerator programs such as Techstars, Antler, and 500 Global.

Ng sums it up: “The U.S. is competing for the same high-caliber talent that drives innovation globally. Our role is to make sure the people who are building the next big thing don’t have their momentum stalled by archaic processes and immigration headaches.”
