Bajaj Auto has made a significant stride in the motorcycle industry by launching the world’s first CNG bike, the Freedom 125. This much-anticipated motorcycle is designed to run on both petrol and CNG (compressed natural gas), providing a unique dual-fuel option for riders. The prices for the Freedom 125 start at Rs 95,000 for the NGO4 Drum variant, Rs 1.05 lakh for the mid-spec NGO4 Drum LED, and Rs 1.10 lakh for the top-spec NGO4 Disc LED, all ex-showroom prices.
Bookings for the Freedom 125 have already begun in Maharashtra and Gujarat, with a nationwide launch planned for the early half of the next quarter. The bike is powered by a 125cc engine that produces 9.5 hp of power and 9.7 Nm of peak torque. It features a 2-litre petrol tank and a 2kg CNG tank, offering a combined range of 330 km. Riders can switch between petrol and CNG fuel seamlessly while on the move, thanks to a unified fuel cap cover for refilling both types of fuel.
Bajaj Auto emphasizes the environmental benefits of the Freedom 125, stating that it emits “26 percent less carbon dioxide and 43 percent less nitrogen oxide than a regular petrol-powered motorcycle.”
The Freedom 125 is built on a trellis frame and comes equipped with telescopic forks up front and a linked monoshock suspension at the rear. The seat measures 785 mm in length, with a height set at 825 mm. The top-spec option includes LED headlamps, and the instrument cluster features a reverse LCD display with Bluetooth connectivity. The bike is available in seven color options.
Currently, the Bajaj Freedom 125 stands alone in the market with no direct rivals, although it is positioned as an alternative to the TVS Raider 125.
