Bajaj Auto has emerged as the top-selling electric two-wheeler (E2W) manufacturer in February, securing a 28% market share with 21,389 units sold, according to data from the Vahan portal as of March 3. This marks the second time the company has overtaken Ola Electric in E2W sales, following a similar feat in December.
However, Ola Electric, which had reclaimed its top position in January amid an aggressive store expansion strategy, recorded 8,647 units on the Vahan portal for February. The Bhavish Aggarwal-led company, on February 28, stated that it had sold 25,000 units in the month, attributing the surge to increased demand in Tier III and IV towns. However, these numbers were not reflected on the Vahan portal due to the company’s renegotiations with registration agencies.
“Ola Electric, on February 28, said it had sold 25,000 units in February, owing to the rising demand for its vehicles in Tier III and IV towns. However, this number does not reflect on the portal. Meanwhile, legacy brand TVS Motor clocked in sales of 18,764 units, garnering a market share of 24.6%, as competition between TVS and Bajaj tightens in the electric two-wheeler segment. IPO-bound Ather sold 11,808 units in February, down from 13,062 units it had sold in January. The Hero MotoCorp backed company now has a 15.5% market share in the segment.”
