Bengaluru-based industrial robotics startup Ati Motors has raised $20 million (INR 172.7 crore) in a Series B funding round co-led by Walden Catalyst Ventures (WCV) and NGP Capital (NGP). The round also saw participation from existing investors, including True Ventures, Exfinity Venture Partners, Athera Venture Partners, and Blume Ventures.
The fresh capital will be used to boost product development and expand market presence in North America and APAC, with the company recently setting up operations in Mexico and strengthening its footprint in the US, India, and Southeast Asia. Additionally, Ati Motors is expanding its North American headquarters in Detroit, MI.
Speaking on the funding, Saurabh Chandra, cofounder and CEO of Ati Motors, said, “This funding will accelerate our ability to leverage our extensive real-world dataset to develop next-generation AI models and further advance our industrial autonomy platform.”
Founded in 2017 by Saurabh Chandra, Ati Motors develops autonomous mobile robots (AMRs) that help manufacturers across various sectors optimise productivity and streamline operations. The company has primarily focused on the automobile sector, with clients including TVS Motor, CEAT, and Hyundai.
Ati Motors has deployed its Sherpa robots across 40 leading manufacturers, including Forvia and Hyundai, with several large-scale deployments in North America. The company plans to leverage its vast factory datasets to enhance autonomous movement capabilities and scale its robotic workforce further.
With the latest investment, the total funding raised by Ati Motors stands at $37 million. The company previously raised $17 million before this round, including a $10.85 million Series A funding round in 2023, led by Silicon Valley-based True Ventures. In 2021, it secured $3.5 million in a Pre-Series A round, and its initial seed funding came from Village Global, an early-stage VC backed by renowned investors such as Bill Gates, Mark Zuckerberg, and Jeff Bezos.
