Ashok Leyland Registers 10% Decline in December Sales, Records 16,324 Units Sold


Ashok Leyland, the commercial vehicle manufacturer, disclosed a 10% decrease in total sales for December 2023, amounting to 16,324 units compared to 18,138 units in the previous year.

According to a regulatory filing by Ashok Leyland, domestic sales observed a similar decline, reaching 15,323 units, down by 10% from 17,112 units recorded in December 2022.

Detailing the segment-wise performance, the company reported a drop in medium and heavy commercial vehicle sales in the domestic market to 10,102 units from 11,399 units, reflecting an 11% decline compared to the same period last year.

Regarding light commercial vehicles in the domestic sector, Ashok Leyland indicated a decrease to 5,221 units from 5,713 units in the year-ago period, marking a 9% downturn.

The company’s regulatory filing presented the figures, stating, “Domestic sales were down 10 per cent at 15,323 units as against 17,112 units in December 2022, Ashok Leyland said in a regulatory filing.”
