Anthropic Launches Enhanced Version of AI Chatbot Claude

San Francisco-based artificial intelligence startup, Anthropic, has unveiled a new and improved version of its AI bot, named Claude. The company, founded in 2021 by former OpenAI employees Daniela Amodei and Dario Amodei, positions itself as a builder of safer chatbots.

Anthropic’s latest release, Claude 2, offers enhanced features and capabilities compared to its predecessor. Available online at claude.ai for users in the US and UK, individuals can access Claude 2, while businesses can integrate it into their products through an application programming interface.

Claude 2, like its earlier version, is built on a large language model and can be utilized for a wide range of written tasks, including summarizing, searching, answering questions, and coding. The new model boasts the ability to generate longer responses, up to approximately 3,000 words, making it suitable for more extensive tasks. Anthropic also claims that Claude 2 delivers more accurate responses on specific topics such as coding and grade-school-level math.

One of Anthropic’s primary goals is to address concerns related to chatbot manipulation and the generation of harmful or offensive content. The company aims to ensure that Claude 2 generates “harmless responses” to “harmful prompts,” reducing the risks associated with AI chatbots.

While the newer model represents an improvement, Anthropic acknowledges that there are still limitations and work to be done. Daniela Amodei, President and Co-founder of Anthropic, emphasized the company’s commitment to continual improvement and striving for a safer, more reliable chatbot.

Anthropic secured $450 million in funding in May, bringing its total funding to over $1 billion. As it expands its offerings, Anthropic plans to make Claude available to users in more countries in the coming months, further solidifying its position as an innovative player in the AI chatbot space.
