Akhil Hari Angira has been appointed as the Co-founder and Chief Business Officer (CBO) of Vidyakul, a state boards-focused edtech startup. Angira, who began his association with Vidyakul as an intern in 2018, previously held the position of Head of Academics. He is an electronics engineer and lawyer with nearly a decade of experience in IT management.
In his new role, Angira will lead business growth, drive revenue generation, profitability, and strategic partnerships, and work towards expanding Vidyakul’s reach in underserved areas. The company expressed confidence in his leadership abilities in a recent statement.
“Our greatest strength is our team which has believed in the company’s vision of equal educational opportunity for all from day one. Akhil [Angira] has been a constant pillar of support for the business—at the back-end as well as the ground. I am delighted to welcome him as our Co-founder and Chief Business Officer and foresee us reaching greater heights with his able leadership,” said Tarun Saini, Founder and CEO of Vidyakul.
Vidyakul, incorporated in 2017 and headquartered in Gurugram, provides e-learning solutions for state board students of classes 9-12 in Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, and Gujarat. The platform offers its services at an affordable fee of Rs 300 per month, aiming to improve the academic performance of students from low-income backgrounds by giving them access to essential learning resources.
Angira expressed his enthusiasm about his new role and his dedication to the company’s mission. “Coming from a small town and starting as an intern, I am truly excited for this new innings at Vidyakul. My commitment remains the same: Education for Bharat’s students,” he said.
Founded by Tarun Saini and Raman Garg, Vidyakul has attracted investments from We Founder Circle (WFC), JITO Angel Network, SOSV, and Thinkuvate, among others. The company has successfully raised a total funding of Rs 21 crore.
In a significant initiative to enhance educational access, Vidyakul recently launched ‘Sankalp Yatra 2024’ with the goal of establishing free Digital Study Rooms in 500 villages. The company aims to reach over five million students through its app by early 2025, reinforcing its commitment to providing quality education to students across India.
