Air India has placed the historic order of over 500 jetliners


The India’s flag carrier airline Air India has placed over 500 jets this year. The order has become a landmark in the history of Airlines. The order was worth tens of billions of dollars from both Airbus and Boeing. According to sources,It has become a renaissance under the Tata Group conglomerate. 

As per the industry sources, the accurate number of orders is 400 narrow-body jets and 100 or more wide-bodies. Also dozens of Airbus A350s and Boeing 787s and 777s. Such a deal could top $100 billion dollars at list prices, including any options, and rank among the largest by a single airline considering the volume terms.This deal could top $100 billion dollars at list prices.

Tata has made this decision to place such a bulk order after the announcement about the merging of Air India with Vistara that is in partnership with Singapore Airlines. By these modifications, Tata can develop a large full-service carrier and become a lead in domestic and international skies. Also the order can create a space for Air India in the traffic flows to and from India, which was enjoyed by the foreign airlines like Emirates earlier. 

Such an order was placed by an American airline over a decade ago before this which was like a combined order for 460 Airbus and Boeing jets and Air India has crossed this now. Campbell Wilson is the current CEO of Air India which was founded by J.R.D Tata in 1977.
