Veg Route, an agri-tech firm based in Chennai, has raised $1.1 million in seed funding headed by VGROW Ventures from the United States. Ravi Shankar Kathirvelu (CBO and investor), Mohan K and Jai Kumar (founders of fintech firm, Ippopay), Hari TN (co-founder, Artha School of Entrepreneurship), and Abhishek Raj Pandey (head of commercial operations, Mamaearth), among others, participated in the round.

The funds raised will be used to improve tech and data-driven solutions for strengthening and revolutionising the fresh produce supply chain that connects farmers and consumers, as well as plans to establish cold storage warehouses and invest in e-vehicles for last-mile delivery operations.

Shyam Prashad Rajasekaran, the CEO, of Veg Route, said, “By ensuring the best quality, right pricing, and timely delivery, we will help people from all walks of life become our consumers and help us expand and connect with more than 50,000 farmers to approximately 2.5 lakh consumers per day in more than 100 cities by 2025.”

The co-founder of the Artha School of Entrepreneurship, Hari TN said, “The market is huge, and all available solutions fall short of the ideal. With a laser-sharp emphasis on this one category, namely F&V, there is a big chance to drastically improve customer experience. I admire the founder’s realistic yet aspirational nature, who is moral but fiercely driven to make a difference.”
