Funding Alert

Agri-tech startup Agrograde secures its seed round of funding from CIIEE.CO and others

Agrograde, an agricultural technology startup located in Pune, has received an undisclosed amount of seed funding from CIIE.CO, Social Alpha, and Villgro. The firm is currently preparing to expand its post-harvest solutions and enter new geographies. The funds will help Agrograde grow its technical team to focus on new crops and boost its production capabilities.

In the Indian onion supply chain, the startup was the first to commercially implement optical grading-sorting technology. The goods of Agrograde have been accepted by a variety of customers, from Exporters to Farmer Producer Organizations (FPO). Agrograde is committed to improving commodities’ marketability, lowering post-harvest losses, and facilitating a quick and transparent trading procedure.

One of Agrograde’s co-founders, Kshitij Thakur, said, “We are developing a platform at Agrograde so that fresh product digital trading may be adopted more quickly. Through our partner markets, Agrograde’s solutions provide FPOs with market linkage while automating quality monitoring and grading-sorting tasks. In the onion and potato value chains in Maharashtra and Uttar Pradesh, we have been collaborating with several FPOs and dealers. In order to do this, we are establishing pay-per-use centres for post-harvest technologies.”

One of Agrograde’s co-founders, Rakeshkumar Barai stated, “We put India first while developing all of our goods. We have greatly increased our product distinctiveness thanks to this strategy. Energy efficiency, a simple user interface, dust resistance, minimal maintenance, and significant operating cost savings are essential for our solutions since they are used at mandis, farms, and collecting centres in remote areas. With one of the most economical optical sorters ever created, Agrograde has made it possible to use it in high-volume, low-margin value chains like those for onions and potatoes.”
