Adobe Co-Founder Dr. John Warnock Passes Away at 82

Dr. John Warnock, co-founder of Adobe, has passed away at the age of 82. The cause of his death has not been disclosed. Survived by his wife, Marva Warnock, a graphic designer, and three children, Warnock, along with his late partner Dr. Charles Geschke, founded Adobe in 1982.
The company’s initial software, Adobe PostScript, was launched in 1984, with Marva Warnock designing its original logo. Serving as CEO until 2000 and later co-chairman of the board with Geschke until 2017, Warnock continued to be a part of Adobe’s board of directors.
Warnock was “one of the greatest inventors in our generation with significant impact on how we communicate in words, images, and videos,” wrote Adobe CEO Shantanu Narayen in an email to employees informing them of Warnock’s passing. He later added, “My interactions with John over the past 25 years have been the highlight of my professional career.”
Recognized as a remarkable inventor, Warnock’s contributions revolutionized communication through words, images, and videos. Under his leadership, Adobe developed iconic software across various industries, including Adobe Acrobat and Adobe Photoshop.
