Adani Digital Labs Pvt. Ltd., a subsidiary of Adani Enterprises, recently announced its intention to acquire the complete ownership interest of Stark Enterprises Pvt. Ltd. (SEPL), widely recognized as Trainman.
“Adani Digital Labs Private Limited has signed a share purchase agreement in relation to its proposed acquisition of 100% stake in SEPL, also known as Trainman, an online train booking and information platform,” the company said in a statement.
Trainman is an innovative travel booking application in India, established in 2011 by Vineet Gupta and Sachin Saxena. The app offers convenient features for passengers, including the ability to check their PNR status and predict the likelihood of obtaining a confirmed seat despite being on a wait-list. Additionally, Trainman provides real-time updates on seat availability, running status, time table, coach position, and even a fare calculator. Experience seamless travel planning and stay informed with Trainman’s comprehensive suite of services.
The travel startup secured investments from prominent investors such as Goodwater Capital, a consumer tech investor based in California, and Hem Angels, a Mumbai-based investor. Notable individuals like Vijay Aggarwal, the Chief Technology Officer of BharatPe, Nitin Gupta, the Chief Executive Officer of Mall 91, and Vishal Kanodia, the Director of Kanodia Cement Ltd, also participated in the seed round funding. These strategic partnerships and financial backing have provided the travel startup with valuable resources to fuel its growth and expansion.
In a noteworthy move, the conglomerate has made its second investment in the travel booking and information sector. Back in October 2021, Adani Enterprises acquired a minority stake in Cleartrip Private Limited, an online travel aggregator under Flipkart’s umbrella.
Furthermore, Adani Enterprises demonstrated its commitment to digital transformation by appointing Nitin Sethi, former Vice President of Indigo, as the Chief Digital Officer. Spearheaded by Rajan Bansal, former Vice President of Airtel, Adani Digital aims to establish an omnichannel platform, seamlessly integrating various Adani Group B2C (business-to-consumer) businesses. This strategic direction highlights Adani Group’s dedication to enhancing customer interactions and creating a cohesive digital experience.
