Accenture Innovation Challenge 2023 won by IIT Delhi, IIM Ahmedabad students

The Accenture Innovation Challenge 2023 crowned IIT Delhi and IIM Ahmedabad as winners, recognizing their exemplary solutions in technology-led innovation. Aimed at addressing real-world problems, the competition spanned 3.5 months and engaged a staggering 182,000 students from over 6600 colleges. Impressively, 37% of the participants were women.

The contest emphasized the development of technology-driven solutions for practical issues. Teams from IIT Delhi and IIM Ahmedabad claimed the top positions in the engineering and business schools’ categories, respectively.

Raghavan Iyer, Accenture’s senior managing director for Innovation in Advanced Technology Centers, highlighted the role of advanced technologies in addressing societal challenges. He stated, “Advanced technologies have the potential to not just solve business challenges but also address critical challenges facing society such as climate change, clean energy, and responsible consumption.”

The theme, ‘Reinvent businesses and accelerate change with the power of technology,’ prompted participants to utilize emerging technologies such as AI, machine learning, blockchain, and more to innovate and present novel solutions.

The winning IIT Delhi team, known as Team Svar, engineered an AI-powered mobile app focused on automating and personalizing speech therapy for children with speech impairments. Available in English and Hindi, the app plans to expand to include more regional languages, providing round-the-clock virtual speech therapy while incentivizing correct pronunciation.

In the business school category, the all-women team ‘TARS’ from IIM Ahmedabad developed a virtual stylist app. This app curates new looks and outfits from existing wardrobes, promoting thriftiness and responsible consumption. Utilizing AI, machine learning, and digital twin technology, it encourages sustainable wardrobe expansion through sharing.

These innovative solutions showcased the potential of technology in addressing societal challenges while fostering responsible consumption and offering impactful solutions in education and healthcare.
