About 79% businesses in Asia leverage tech to enhance last-mile logistics efficiency: Locus

Locus, a leading dispatch management SaaS company, has published a comprehensive research report titled “Decoding Asia’s Last-Mile Maturity,” shedding light on the current state of last-mile logistics across several Asian countries, including India, Indonesia, and the UAE. The report offers valuable insights into the progress and gaps within the last-mile logistics ecosystem and emphasizes the pivotal role of technology in driving business success in this domain.

According to the findings, 79% of businesses in Asia are leveraging technology to enhance their last-mile efficiency. However, a staggering 84% lack confidence in their processes to drive growth and improve customer experiences. These statistics highlight the widespread adoption of technology in the industry, but also the significant untapped potential that exists.

“Solving deep-seated last-mile challenges requires a deep understanding of your business’s last-mile maturity. Therefore, to help businesses across sectors gauge their maturity and supercharge their last-mile growth, we recently launched the Last-Mile Maturity Assessment. Data from these responses has shown that today only 40% of businesses in Asia have scratched the surface of tech-driven last-mile prowess, showing that there is an untapped opportunity for businesses to achieve success. We want this report to reflect key trends and opportunities for businesses, so can they get inspired to optimize their logistics and achieve greater revenues and superior customer experiences”, says, Mehul Kapadia, Chief Revenue Officer, Locus

The report evaluates businesses across five key logistics metrics: Last-Mile Excellence, Customer Experience, Workforce Empowerment, Advanced Analytics, and Sustainability. Some key findings include:

– India excels in Advanced Analytics with a score of 3.59 out of 5, indicating a growing reliance on big data analytics and other advanced technologies to optimize last-mile operations.

– India also leads in Workforce Empowerment with a score of 3.42 out of 5, reflecting investments in technology solutions like advanced route planning to enhance the lives of delivery drivers.

– The UAE stands out in Last-Mile Excellence with a score of 3 out of 5, driven by significant adoption of last-mile technologies, particularly in the e-commerce sector.

– The UAE leads in Customer Experience with an average score of 3.73 out of 5, surpassing the industry average.

– In Sustainability, the UAE maintains its lead with a score of 4.16 out of 5, followed by India at 3.78, while Indonesia falls below the global average at 2.55.

The report also provides industry-specific insights into sectors like 3PL & CEP, e-commerce, retail, and manufacturing. It highlights the importance of sustainability but notes that comprehensive follow-through is often lacking, especially in carbon emissions tracking, which is overlooked in many industries. Overall, the analysis indicates that 49% of global organizations lack confidence in tracking sustainability metrics to reduce emissions and fuel consumption.
