Tethon Corporation Inc. (Tethon 3D) has announced the issuance of the company’s U.S. patent number 11,126,088 “Photopolymer Development Resin Base for Use with Three-dimensional Printer” on September 21, 2021.
Tethon 3D manufactures the patented product line under the commercial name Genesis, a group of photo-curing polymer resins used in the formulation and full-scale production of materials for SLA and DLP 3D printing. Using stereolithographic processes, Genesis resins are used to create ceramic AM materials.
“Genesis is a line of multiple resins,” explained Tethon 3D CTO Greg Pugh. “By formulating an evolving line of resin bases that accomplish specific goals, like high loading and physical flexibility, it allows for a border range of solid materials to be added into the Genesis line. The Tethon team and other material developers can use Genesis in potentially infinite ways to develop specialty materials that perform specific applications.”
In hundreds of facilities, Genesis has enabled R&D and production of custom 3D printing resins since its introduction in 2016. For aerospace, automotive, metal casting, jewelry, dental, electronics, and biomedical industries, Genesis formulations incorporating alumina, zirconia, silica, silicon carbide, and hydroxyapatite are desirable.
The Genesis 3D printer is manufactured by Tethon 3D at their facility in Omaha, Nebraska. It already holds patents for 3D printing materials, processes, and hardware.
