The top three IT companies In India hired 40,887 to its workforce in the first quarter of this fiscal, compared to a net decline of 9,088 employees in the same period of last year. It has been projected that the rise in hiring will continue through the next few quarters. Tata Consultancy Services got on board more than 20,000 people, while Infosys and Wipro added over 8,000 and 12,000 employees respectively as demands for projects surging and clients spend on technology to upgrade their systems to the cloud, a vital part of their digital transformation journey.
Infosys COO Pravin Rao said, “With growth coming back, demand for top talent has also increased. Voluntary attrition (last 12-month) increased to 13.9%, from 10.9% in the previous quarter. However, we not only backfilled attrition completely, but also added, which is a testimony to the strength of the recruitment engine at Infosys.”
Companies are signing record deals worth billions of dollars, which means they acquire more employees ready to get into projects when they commence. TCS said it will hire 40,000 freshers this year, Infosys 35,000 and Wipro 12,000. The demand has also led to a war for talent, with attrition in all three companies spiking and expected to remain at elevated levels this year.
