Digital Payment platform PhonePe to help digitise Cash On Delivery orders for Flipkart PhonePe’s QR code solution will now enable customers who want to pay digitally through any UPI interface, at the time of delivery. The main aim of this would be to avoid contactless payment even during cash on delivery. Most e-commerces disabled the options of cash on delivery during the peak times of Pandemic, and with this new method of paying money, it would be easier for both the delivery agent and the consumer receiving them. “Digital payments adoption has become widespread over the past few years thanks to UPI. However, there still continues to be a preference for cash on delivery among some customers at the time of delivery. Digitising these cash-based payments would give a major boost to not just e-commerce but also contribute to the larger goal of Digital India.”Ankit Gaur, director of business PhonePe
Most people still prefer cash on delivery even now, because people have a distrust whether the items would be properly delivered or not, or maybe they are unable to pay through online mode at that moment. In that way, this move by Paytm would be really a development in moving closer towards Digital India. “While the pandemic has urged several consumers to make a shift to online shopping, some trust deficit during checkout remains in pockets. With ‘pay-on-delivery’ technology we want to ensure that customers have peace of mind with their payments and at the same time can shop within the safety of their homes,” said Ranjith Boyanapalli, head of fintech and payments group at Flipkart.
