New vaccine testing lab to be set up, as Centre sanctions funds from PM Care, aa confirmed by G Jishan Reddy, Union Minister of State for home. “I thank Hon’ble PM for sanctioning funds for setting up of a vaccine testing lab at Hyderabad, which will also boost production of Covid – 19 Vaccines. The Government had faced unanimous criticism for lacking infrastructure in terms of health and wellness, and this move is being welcomed by all. The vaccine percentage in India is still slow, and at this rate it would take quite a many years to vaccinate all of the population, and so a vaccine testing laboratory was absolutely necessary to tackle diversity as and when required. If more such vaccine testing laboratories spring up, it would be easier for Doctors and Medical Practitioners to decide on one vaccine quickly.
The current number of vaccine testing laboratories in the country is only two – the Central Drug Laboratory at Kasauli, and the National Institute of Biologicals at Moida. And considering the huge population of India, it is far too less and thus the decision of setting up a new vaccine testing laboratory at Hyderabad. There is a plan for establishing another testing centre at National Centre for Cell Science, Pune. Both of whose funds have been sanctioned from PM Care Funds on March 6. The laboratory at Hyderabad is hopefully going to be fully functional from August i.e next month. Hyderabad is already home to phana majors, and now this laboratory will be a big step towards comprehensive development of health infrastructure in the city. Covid – 19 vaccines are obviously to be given utmost priority and soon as things start operating.
