Ed-tech Giant upGrad continues its acquisition spree-acquires Talentedge


The online higher education company upGrad in furtherance of its acquisition spree is all set to acquire Talentedge, the fourth largest online higher education company for an estimated amount of INR 350-400 crore.

The ed-tech giant has entered into an acquisition agreement with Arrina Education Services, the holding company of Talentedge Education Ventures, in what would be one of the larger consolidations in the higher education space.

Expressing his views on the recent acquisition, the co-founder of upGrad and prominent investor, Ronnie Screwvala stated, “We are leaders by far in the higher education space in India. Currently, we are twice as much as the next player, but we want to grow the gap to 4X before we branch out. upGrad has cemented its leadership position as the most integrated player in higher education in Asia, serving learners and working professionals across the age group of 18-50 years. Talentedge has meticulously built a strong business over the last decade and stayed the course in this space where most did not survive, and we are very pleased to welcome them at upGrad as we build one of the largest edtech companies in the world.”

This announcement comes just a month after the Ronnie Screwvala led company acquired Global Study Partners to expand its overseas reach and tap into higher education markets abroad. The recent acquisition is the 6th of the lot.

Talking about the takeover, the Chief Executive at Talentedge, Aditya Malik said, “Talentedge will continue to work as is with its university and institute partners to deliver the quality education to its learners across degree and certification programmes.”

 

Talentedge is an online learning platform based out of Gurugram which partners up with renowned institutions to offer personalised higher education learning to its clients.
