Incubators to get a grant of Rs 135 crore under Startup India seed fund.


The Skills Development Ministry of India said in a response in the Lok Sabha that under the Startup India Seed Fund Scheme, as many as 34 incubators will receive a grant of Rs135 crore. 

The Startup India Seed Fund Scheme (SISFS) has been implemented from April 1. 2021 where a sum total of Rs 945 crore will be spent over the next four years for providing seed funding to eligible startups through eligible incubators across India. It will support an estimated 3,600 entrepreneurs through 300 incubators in the next 4 years.The ‘Call for Application’ for startups was launched on July 19, 2021, where applications have been received from 1,446 startups under the scheme.

The very objective of this policy is to provide a platform that matches supply of skilled workforce with the market demand, thereby facilitating better livelihood opportunities for youth and availability of ready skilled manpower to employers, according to the government.

The government had launched Aatmanirbhar Skilled Employees Employer Mapping (ASEEM) portal, which acts as a directory of skilled workforce. At present, around 10 lakh migrant’s data or profile is available on ASEEM.
