SpaceX sets up subsidiary in India, to seek license

Elon Musk-headed SpaceX has registered a subsidiary (100% owned) named India Starlink Satellite Communications Private Limited (SSCPL). The registration will allow the company to seek licenses.

Starlink country director Sanjay Bhargava said in a LinkedIn post, “Pleased to share that SpaceX now has a 100 percent owned subsidiary in India.” He added, “We can now start applying for licenses, open bank accounts, etc.”

In a separate LinkedIn post, Bhargava stated, “At Starlink, we want to serve the underserved. We hope to work with fellow broadband providers, solution providers in the aspirational districts to improve and save lives.” The company announced that it’s working with Niti Aayog to identify 12 areas in the country for Starlink’s initial launch.

“Our approach will be to get pilot approval quickly if Pan India approval will take long. We are optimistic that we will get approval for a pilot program or Pan India approval in the next few months,” Bhargava stated previously.
