Chalo in talks to acquire mobility startup Vogo

The online mobility platform Chalo is in advanced talks to acquire the new age mobility startup Vogo in a share-swap deal. This announcement comes just one month after Chalo acquired the Amazon backed Shuttl- bus service for office-goers.

The talks come just a few months after the world goes back to normal. The global pandemic and the subsequent lockdowns to curtail the virus had profound implications on the business of mobility startups. Vogo faced severe downfall due to the pandemic leading to a 42% downfall following which the startup is in talks to be acquired.

Founded in 2016 by Anand Ayyadurai, Balakrishnan Padmanabhan and Sanchit Mittal, Vogo is a mobility startup that allows customers to rent two-wheelers for short one-way trips. The startup aims to provide quick and affordable mobility solutions to the population through its app. The company faces stiff competition from Bounce and is looking forward to expand into the EV segment.

Last month Chalo received $40 million in a funding round led by Lightrock India and Filter Capital. The startup provides users access to tracking buses across the city and allows them to book bus tickets. It claims to have clocked 20 million bus rides in the previous month and has more than 15,000 buses on its platform with a presence in 31 cities.
