Cofounders Of BBdaily Exit To Start New Venture In Digital Transformation
The cofounders of RainCan, a daily essential subscription-based startup that was acquired by BigBasket and relaunched as BBdaily, have left the company. RainCan’s co founders, Abhijeet Kumar and Munendra Singh, have departed BBdaily to launch their new startup, according to Inc42 sources.According to sources familiar with the agreement, Kumar and Singh will co-found a new company that will help other businesses digitise. “They’ll be collaborating closely with entrepreneurs as they create their apps and products.” According to a source who requested anonymity, “the new venture will be producing tools that will help startups roll out new features and apps faster.”
The company will also set up a fund to invest in the businesses with which it is collaborating. Kumar and Singh will manage the finances for the time being with their own funds, but they plan to raise their Series A later.Both Kumar and Singh did not answer to Inc42’s questions.RainCan was a Pune-based subscription-based service provider that delivered dairy, meat, bread, fruits, and vegetables. It was founded in June 2015 by Munendra Singh and Abhijeet Kumar.
Angel investors include Prabodh Agarwal of IIFL Holdings Ltd Group, Aniruddha Malpani, Ajeet Khurana, and Nikunj Shah supported the firm.
BigBasket, which is backed by Tata, bought a 100 percent ownership in RainCan in 2018 and rebranded it as BBdaily to improve its hyper-local delivery. RainCan was able to expand its activities thanks to BigBasket’s acquisition.Another big grocery delivery network, SoftBank-backed Grofers, saw one of its co-founders, Saurabh Kumar, leave to start his new venture Warpli earlier this year. Puneet Kumar, the creator of Supr Daily, left Swiggy, a large food delivery aggregator that is going full speed in quick commerce delivery with Instamart, in September of this year.
Swiggy paid all cash for Mumbai-based milk delivery company Supr Daily in 2018. Supr Daily is a Mumbai-based subscription service that delivers daily consumable goods including milk, bread, eggs, coconut water, and other items to its consumers every morning. It was founded in 2015 by Kumar and Shreyas Nagdawane.Phani Kishan, Swiggy’s freshly promoted cofounder, has taken over as CEO of Supr Daily.
