Scaler Academy acquires Coding Minutes for $1 million

Scaler Academy, an edtech development platform, has acquired Coding Minutes, an e-learning platform, for $1 million in a cash deal. This is a new acquisition for the edtech startup following the acquisition of Coding Elements in August of this year to accelerate the company’s growth, leading to their vertical launch of Data Science & Machine Learning.
With the acquisition of Coding Minutes, Scaler will focus on creating specialized content that effectively engages the aspiring tech aspiring and developing existing tech talent. This acquisition will enable Scaler to tailor content for students and professionals who want to enter the tech industry and lack coding or programming experience.
In addition, it strengthens Scaler’s instructor and engineering teams. Coding Minutes will be part of Scaler and will continue to offer specialist pocket-sized courses for beginners as part of the acquisition. Prateek Narang joined as Engineering Manager and Instructor for Scaler Academy, Mohit Uniyal joined as Instructor for Scaler Data Science & ML Program and Jatin Virmani joined as Content Program Manager in the marketing team. Coding Minutes provides short-term digital learning courses for young coders at an affordable price. It offers courses in areas such as data structures, algorithms and programming languages such as Python, C++, Java, version control systems, data science, machine learning and competitive programming.
Coding Minutes has more than 20,000 learners from 120 countries enrolled in various courses. An annual income of Rs 1 crore is also expected during the current fiscal year. Launched in 2019,
Scaler Academy is a skills-enhancing platform for tech enthusiasts, raising $20 million in January 2020 in Series A investments led by renowned investors such as Sequoia Capital, Tiger Global and Rocket Internet.
The company recently introduced its data science and machine learning program and a subscription-based lifetime career booster called Forever. Today, Scaler has more than 650 employees and more than 1,000 mentors and educational partners on the platform to bridge the gap between tech talent in India. To date, more than 8,500 students have enrolled in Scaler’s educational programs.
