Devnagri raises $600K in seed round
Translation platform Devnagri recently raised $600 thousand in its seed round led by Venture Catalysts and Inflection Point Ventures (IPV). The round also saw participation from co-ivestors such as Mitesh Shah (IPV), Rohit Chanana (Sarcha Advisors), Nimesh Kampani (Trica), Sameer Karulkar (Coverpage Ventures Advisory LLP), Prashant Sharma (Facebook), Karan Bhagi (HUL), and Deepak Sharma (Kotak Bank).
The B2B SaaS platform plans to use the capital raised to strengthen technology and scale operations to promote the creation of more vernacular language content.
Founded by Nakul Kundra and Himanshu Sharma, Devnagri aims to make the internet accessible to a majority of Indians and ensure the availability of content in Indian languages using tech based solutions. The platform inculcates Neural Machine Translation with Machine Learning and a community to support translations.
Devnagri founder Nakul Kundra stated, “There is a strong need for content in Indian languages to be available over the internet, which helps the Indians to use technology (be it entertainment, news, education, movies, etc) in their respective language. With our current round of funding, we intend to scale our operations to tap B2B customers and enable them to create more local (Indian language) content to reach end-users from Tier II and Tier III cities.”
