Facebook to now be known as Meta
Social networking and tech giant Facebook recently renamed itself ‘Meta.’
As per founder Mark Zuckerburg, “Meta’s focus will be to bring the metaverse to life and help people connect, find communities, and grow businesses.”
“In this future, you will be able to teleport instantly as a hologram to be at the office without a commute, at a concert with friends, or in your parents’ living room to catch up. This will open up more opportunity, no matter where you live. You’ll be able to spend more time on what matters to you, cut down time in traffic, and reduce your carbon footprint,” he added in a blogpost.
The theme for Meta is set to be ‘metaverse,’ an online, 3D universe that functions as an amalgam of virtual spaces. This universe will allow users to meet, chat, work, and participate in games together, regardless of geographic location. Users will control their own digital avatars on this AR and VR powered metaverse.
